Self-Portrait a été fondée en 2013 à Londres par Han Chong, avec la vision créative de rendre le design de qualité accessible à toutes les femmes.
Formé à Central Saint Martins, le designer malaisien allie une esthétique raffinée à une compréhension experte des structures et des matières, ce qui a propulsé la marque vers une ascension fulgurante et bouleversé le marché de la mode contemporaine.
Conçue à Londres, pensée pour le monde entier – Self-Portrait s'engage à célébrer et à valoriser les femmes qui portent ses créations. Une féminité assurée par une fonctionnalité élégante, reflet d’un véritable engagement et d’une appréciation sincère d’un mode de vie contemporain.
HAN CHONG
Ancien artiste exposé à la Biennale de Venise, Han s’est tourné vers la mode, animé par le désir de créer des œuvres pouvant toucher un plus grand nombre de personnes. Il a décidé de lancer Self-Portrait – un nom qui reflète les femmes pour lesquelles il conçoit ses créations, avec pour seul objectif de créer de beaux vêtements qui font se sentir spéciales celles qui les portent.
In 2018, Self-Portrait's first flagship store opened on Albemarle Street in London. Working with Casper Mueller Kneer Architects, the design of the store manifests Self-Portrait’s notion that quality experience and modern luxury should be accessible to all. In 2022, self-portrait proudly opened a second location in its hometown of London, with a store on the King's Road in the heart of Chelsea.
Further stand-alone stores with the same concept subsequently opened in Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Taipei, Hong Kong and Macau, establishing the brand's global reach.
In less than 10 years Self-Portrait has been able to build a strong creative language, and a very loyal customer and community. Aside from starting and building the business, at the heart of its value, we are committed to investing in the next generation of creative talent. Through a 5-year Central Saint Martin’s scholarship programme, the brand is able to provide mentorship and financial aid to students on the MA Fashion course.
